Configure a mesh network

A successful installation of Amatis devices is defined as the physical install of Amatis devices at the physical site.

Follow the installation to commission your Amatis mesh network, which first requires accessing your Amatis Border Router (AMBR) to configure your site's specific wireless communication profile.

There are three elements that define your mesh network:

  • Channel ID: specific radio wavelength within the 2.4GHz frequency band
  • PAN ID: personal area network, a digital signature associating devices with the mesh
  • Key ID: encryption key that confirms communication is secure, originating from Amatis and preventing interference from other Amatis devices sending signals across the network.
Note: Before attempting to configure your mesh network, please confirm the following:
1. You’ve completed the installation of your system at your site, which means that you’ve installed your various fixtures, advanced load controllers or smart drivers and sensors. You’ve confirmed your network has power and the lights should be on.

2. Your Amatis Border Router is plugged in, accessible through your buildings’ Internet firewalls and recognized in the Amatis app and dashboard.

Configure a mesh network

1. Log into your site's Amatis app

2. Confirm your site's connected devices are showing up in the Devices tab

  • With your Amatis device list handy, review the list of connected devices including Advanced Load Controllers, Smart Drivers, and Sensor 1s. This ensures that devices are discoverable.

 3. Confirm your AMBR is on the latest firmware

  • In the Config tab, this is noted as "Version" in the PAN column.

 4. Define the wireless communication profile for your mesh network

  • Select the profiles tab
  • Select the plus icon
  • The "Create New Profile" form will appear. The fields are auto-populated, and you can change the name field if you’d like.

  • Note: If you are using Amatis battery switches at your site, then the Channel and Pan fields need to match the channel and PAN (PID) provided with your switch device. Confirm this by noting the sticker on your switch device. In this example, the device sticker notes "Ch. 19" and "PID:11". If the channel and PAN (PID) on your switch sticker differ from the auto-populated Channel and PAN fields in the AMBR app, then update the AMBR app fields to match those on your switch sticker.

6. Confirm successful configuration by pinging your devices.

You can ping a device in the Devices tab by selecting the ping Screen_Shot_2019-08-23_at_2.53.33_PM.png icon to confirm the AMBR can communicate with a specific device. If you are not able to communicate with your devices, they will be indicated as "stale" in red text and you should attempt a troubleshoot.
