1. Out of the box, unscrew the Amatis SW8 cover. There are two left-side power input ports for 24VDC power supplied by Channel 16 of the Nextek PHD that powers the lights in the space. These are polarity insensitive so they can be connected in any way that does not short them.




2. Once 24V power has been wired in, remove the rainbow colored ribbon-cable that comes in the box: 


  • The device operates in pairs of wires
  • The wires are all either ‘common’ or ‘hot’ for one of the up to 8
    switches on the device. 
  • The wires alternate from common to hot from right to left, so blue is common and will be wired into the Wattstopper or Leviton devices.
  • Blue is common, green is hot
  • If the ribbon cable is difficult to connect to the device, the top portion of the case can be pried off from the back. Once its pried off, the connector will go on easily and the cover can be replaced.

Screw into ‘N.O’ (normally open) on the wiring block.

Wire into the ‘S1’ terminal of the switch.


Wire to ‘Relay Common’ on the dual tech sensor. 

Wire into the ‘+24/CM’ terminal of the Leviton device.

Separating the common from the hot, take every second wire and screw it into the next ascending ‘S’ terminal on the Leviton multi button switch. Here, Switch 1 gets Green, Switch 2 gets Orange, Switch 3 gets Brown, and Switch 4 gets white. Add or subtract pairs of wires to accommodate switches from 3-button to 8-button switches.


With all the individual switches wired in, take the remaining wires of the used switches (common) and strip and twist together and land in the “+24/CM” terminal.The “L” terminals on the Leviton multi button switch are ignored.



Pull the faceplate off the dual tech sensor to find the settings dip switches.

  • The time delay of the sensor is dictated by the position of the first three dip switches.
  • Factory setting is “Up-Down-Up” (20 minutes)
  • Change the first three dip switches to “Down-Down-Up” (30 seconds)
  • Nextek will manage the timeout(s) of these devices with software

No additional settings.


Return the faceplate and power up both devices.

  • SW8 will blink yellow and blue as it boots up, with LEDs showing solid green and blue in a few moments.
  • The dual tech will show green and red LEDs on the sides to indicate visual and audio movement cues.

Screw the cover cap back onto the SW8 and power up. 

  • SW8 will blink yellow and blue as it boots up, with LEDs showing solid green and blue in a few moments.


Check the terminals for the controls wires to ensure they will not pop out once placed in the ceiling. Replace the faceplate covers on both devices and install in the ceiling. 

Install both devices behind the switch in the junction box in the wall. 


Walk away from the sensor for more than 30 seconds.  Approach the sensor and note the when it senses your motion, you should hear a click of the relay.

Each button can be tested for correct operation. Contact your Nextek Project Manager who can debug problems by making sure the device responds correctly as you hold down successive buttons.
